I went here on 6/6 for dinner with my mother, and we were immediately seated. It started to get more crowded as our meal went on, but it wasn't insanely loud/the wait staff wasn't running around. The only time we were kept waiting was when we were trying to get our bill--other than that the service was great. An amazing feature that their menu has is a combo meal for $9.99. It's great because it typically has three different items that you can try--I loved it because I got to try a bit of three different things--though some had two options. I got the #15 combo which consisted of a chicken quesadilla, a beef and cheese tostada, and taco. All three were fantastic, but I will say that the tostada was to die for--the cheese melted on top was delicious. My mom got the #7 combo consisting of an enchilada, chile relleno, and rice and beans. I tried some of the rice and it had the perfect amount of seasoning. She also loved the chile relleno because the seeds are removed which makes it less spicy and much more enjoyable. We both got drinks--I got a specialty drink that I can't remember the name of (something with a sunset) and she got a margarita, and both were amazing. The drinks were a bit pricey though, especially considering we got big meals for $9.99 each--I believe the drinks were only about $1 cheaper. While specialty drinks are always more expensive, it was a bit glaring with the meal price.

Ordered the enchiladas banderas. This comes with a chicken, beef, and cheese enchiladas with three different sauces. The red sauce over beef didn't taste very good. The white sauce over the cheese was the best. The green sauce over chicken was good for about half the enchilada, but then the after taste halfway through changed my thoughts. The waiter I had barely spoke English, but that wasn't surprising for a Mexican restaurant. Overall the atmosphere was decent and food was decent. Nothing to brag about though.

Fantastic! I'm pretty critical when it comes to Mexican restaurants. This one was truly authentic. The salsa was great and the fresh guacamole perfect! We loved that they made it to our liking table side. I got the carnitas, they were perfectly seasoned and fall apart tender. Staff was friendly and courteous. Will definitely be going back!

I have eaten here twice, and was very happy and full on both occasions. The Guacamole is made fresh at the table to your liking, and the fresh salsa and homemade chips are fabulous. I got the Burrito Conchinita Pibil and it was delicious and I only made it through half. My Wife got the carne asada, and it was delicous and fresh. The Sangria is OK, but uses canned fruit ,although there isa full bar. The Flan is to die for and is a must order. The staffi is very attentive, and the atmosphere is clean and nicely laid out. Because the restaurant is split into two dictinct areas it tends to be a little quiter than some.

Great little place to eat we go there very often, very reasonably priced with good portion size. Service is usually very good but can be slow.

01/10/2015 around 8:30pm When we walked in we were greeted by a very nice young lady, a gentleman approached her to see where she was sitting her, it seemed like it was an issue going on and after some discussion we were seated at a booth, that same Gentleman turned out to be our waiter, he brought us chips and Salsa, well about two table spoon of Salsa and then said I will bring you more in a minute (that never happened) he asked if we wanted something to drink? so I ordered an Ice Tea since I felt like I was being rushed. When he brought the drinks, he asked if we wanted and appetizer? we asked for a few minutes, a minute later he is back asking if we wanted to order? I asked if they were closing early? he said no, I was hoping he would understand he was rushing us. We ordered an appetizer and our meals and I figured I might as well get a beer or this old man is really going to get the best of me. Throughout the meal he kept rushing us and asking if he could take our plates, I finally told him I wanted to finish eating first. The food was Good for the prize, but it could have been a lot better, the beer came in a huge mug and it could have been colder, the fresh Guacamole was pretty Good, they make it in front of you and you get to tell them what you want in it, however, he made more noise with the two spoons he was using than a chef at a Hibachis, come on its a soft avocado. It seems like all the other servers were being nice and friendly to their customers. I tried to get the managers attention but he was busy talking with one of the waiter's and had no interest making sure the customers were being well served. As we were leaving, the manager was again talking to the same guy but on the other side of the restaurant, I was looking straight at him for a bit as I stood by the register and he pretty much ignored me. So, if you go, avoid the short skinny waiter in his late 40s

Food is great and nice size portions ! Fast service, nice staff. If you order guacamole , they will make it in front of you. Upon arrival you are getting nachos with salsa, appetizers came out fast, so as the main course. Everything was delicious! We were staying overnight in the neighborhood and food was so good that we came back the next day for lunch !

We have been going here for three years now on a weekly basis and it is consistently good every time! Tried almost everything on the menu and haven't had anything bad yet. Patron margaritas are the best! Chips and salsa are never ending! Never too crowded and always seated quickly. Friendly staff remembers us ;)

I wish I could say that I've EVER had a good experience here - but I have not. The food is nothing special, in fact, it's reminiscent of the old chain Mexican restaurants. That said, if that's what you LIKE - upgraded Taco Bell - then this is the place for you. Though admittedly, I've only given the restaurant three opportunities to impress me... and by opportunities, I mean, I went of my own volition the first time - after that I was dragged in by others. So, in a nutshell: Service: Appalling, each and every time. Food: Uninspired; over-priced what what it is Drinks: I've had the margaritas and they're very good... once you get it, of course. And finally, that "table-side guacamole" everyone is raving about? Um, if you've experienced much Mexican food, you'll find it average. Personally, I find the constant BANGING IN MY EARS from its mediocre creation, incredibly annoying. It's impossible to have a conversation while a waiter is making THAT MUCH RACKET! Honestly, that's the reason I'll never, ever be pulled in for a fourth visit. If you have kids - go. No one will hear the chaos at your table over the din.

Upon sitting we were served chips and salsa (it's goooood) and given ample time to order. I started with my beverage of choice, Sangria. The glass was HUGE and did not disappoint so I obviously recommend. I heart table side Guac! It is a must for me whenever I visit a venue that has this available :) Be prepared to tip the server who prepares the guacamole as the big metal cart comes equipped with a tip jar (we were not prepared!) lol If I get the hankering for Mexican and I'm in the area I would def visit this place again :)

We were served a generous bowl of tortilla chips and salsa as soon as we were seated. I had the Chicken Fajita Salad and my wife ordered two Beef Enchiladas a la carte. We thought both were very good and the price reasonable. Our waiter was prompt and attentive. Similar to other restaurants in the chain.

This place has nowhere near enough Yelp love. It's great. Here's why: 1 - It's Authentic - It's relatively easy to find real Mexican food here. There's some chain-ish trappings to the menu that your mom or spicy-food despising girlfriend will love, but if you're on the prowl for legit Mexicano, this hits pretty close. 3 - Service - It was good, but they weren't busy either. That said, everyone was on point and service was spot on. 3 - Yum - Food quality was El Perrón. Really good... Tacos de Carne Asada and an Espolón Margarita all brought tears to my eyes. As in tears of happiness. The salsas served with the requisite basket of chips as well as the tacos (chile de arbol) were fully chronic.

Great food and prices. The ambience was great. Will definetly go back to try more of their wide selection of Tequilas.

The food is okay, I have had better. What's cool about this place is that they make gaucamole for you while you watch. Yep the wheel the table around and cut up the avacado and smoosh them while you wait for your dinner. I had their house margarita and not worth it. For a Mexican place I expected better margaritas.

Okay, first I would like to say that I was unaware that this was a chain. Second, I was not expecting much from a Mexican restaurant tucked back in a very small strip mall next to a Walmart. HOWEVER, I was PLEASANTLY surprised! It was great! Hands down, the best chili relleno I've ever had (and I LOOOOOOVE chili relleno's)!!!! It was different...yes, it was stuffed with cheese and fried. But, it was stuffed with A LOT of cheese and then topped with sweet onions and peppers and a very yummy sauce! It was awesome! I could just eat them as my whole meal (you actually can...there's a meal with two chili rellenos, rice and beans). The do the fresh guacamole table-side and it's great! My husband bought something covered in meat - not sure what it was, but he said it was awesome and very hearty. My kid loves the quesadillas. We go to this place almost weekly. And, the servers are super friendly!!

I've been here twice this month, and have no complaints. The guac is made to order, table side, and is incredible. Food is consistent, and always as described. Service is great, and the restaurant is spotless.

The salsa given at the beginning tastes store bought and like the inside of a refrigerator. Also the chips at the bottom of the basket tasted strongly of coffee. When we asked the waitress if the chicken wings were boneless she said yes, which it turns out they were not! Also the sauce for them also tasted like refrigerator.

Food was delicious! Service was terrible!! Slower than any restaurant I've been to in a long time! To top it off, they would take a coupon that was just a few days expired... Yet our server brought a non expired coupon to my table to show me, but would not let me use it! Horrible customer service!!!!

If you are in a rush go here. They bring out the food extremely fast and have a well staffed kitchen. The food is ok for Mexican food but with all the places to choose from in the area there is better food around. The margaritas are more on the orange flavored side, which is good but they are more expensive than some other places.

I had high hopes for this restaurant after having been to a Plaza Azteca in Virginia and having an amazing meal. I ordered the same exact meal, Enchiladas Banderas. This time the food was absolutely disgusting, after taking a few bites I literally could not eat anymore. It was gross. I will never eat at Kennett Sq. Plaza Azteca again. Never again.

Is always good and quick. We often run into friends here and eat together. Group and kid friendly. Prices are reasonable and food quality is good. Table side guacamole is big and delicious.

You'd never believe it's a strip mall Mexican place. Food is authentic and staff is great. I've only ever had the cheese enchiladas here but everyone I'm with has also enjoyed their meal. The margaritas are decent and cheap. Word to the wise go with the large. Also spring for the guacamole. It's made table side and is fresh and good.

  • Andrea M.

The food is ok. I very well know authentic Mexican food (I am Mexican) and this is almost imitation-like. I'm not trying to bash them, but I've had better. The service is subpar; especially on a busy weekend. I may try to go on a week day to try it out again. Overall it's all right.

Kennett Square is the mushroom capital of the world so of course that's where you would go for a great inexpensive Mexican meal, right? In this case yes. Kennett Square is also the home of Logwood Gardens so if you are headed out there for that amazing experience these folks are about three minutes away. So now let's talk about finding them. On Route 1 South there is an Applebee's in Kennett Square. The trick is to turn in there and they are hidden in a little plaza just behind them. Parking is a breeze. This was my first visit here but I'm very familiar with them as they are a small chain. I've been to their location in Plymouth Meeting many many times. I knew what to expect and was not disappointed. If you are a carnivore the Burrito San Jose is the choice for you. It's a huge tortilla stuffed with chicken and chorizo sausage in addition to rice and beans. It's topped with a cheese sauce and pico de gallo. I've had it before, it was still delicious, and I was stuffed. I washed this down with two, that's right two, 22 oz. Modelo drafts in frosty mugs. Now for the punch line; my bill was $15 and change! It doesn't get much better than that. I was watching the staff carefully as the served other customers. This location has been open about three months and it appears they have worked out all the kinks. The food was coming out fast and the staff was friendly and efficient. You may encounter little bit of a language barrier when dealing your waiter or waitress but it will be minor. So these guys are a chain but a very good one. If you are looking for a delicious Americanized Mexican meal without breaking the bank you're in the right place.

This place is awesome! The table side guacamole and large margaritas were delicious! My meal arrived shortly after and I couldn't be more satisfied. I ordered one of the combos which included an enchilada, tostado and a taco. The tostados were soooo good. Melty cheese, crispy tortilla ... I absolutely recommend this place. True authentic Mexican food at a great pice.

Great to see a small business doing well in the community. This family run authentic Mexicanplace is the latest edition to the burgeoning Kennett food scene. Don't believe that there is a restaurant scene in sleepy little Kennett? Explain Lily, La Verona and Byrsa Bistro as new entires added to existing haunts like Portabellas, Talulas, Savona and the Half Moon. Trust me you may have to remove the sleepy from sleepy Kennett Square if you havent already. In any case back to the matter at hand. The best thing about this restaurant, funnily enough, is the food. The pricing is great and the quality wonderful. They have a liquor license and seem to do some great bar biz. The service is still figuring itself out. It's gonna get better but you just have to give them time to hum. We went on a recent Saturday night and it was a hot mess. The hostess is telling everyone 25 and it's taking 40 and she's not adjusting. The wait staff is so busy they can't get checks to tables to turn them fast enough. They will figure all this out. The basis of the place, the food, is great. The entrees are flavorful and filling without being too big. Everyone was thrilled including my reason for living and my two little angels. Take the time to give these folks your business. You will love it.

My wife and I have been here twice in the last 2 weeks. First, the place is divided into two sides. The small bar is on the right side with dinner seating. The left side just has dinner seating. Our first time there we sat at the bar for a drink or two and an app. The appetizer was incredible... not sure what it was called but it was 3 soft burritos with crab and lobster with a delicious sauce on top... incredible! The margarita I had was great too. However, the young bartender was a bit on the sneaky side. After finishing my drink she opened up the drink menu and pointed to a Margarita and asked if I wanted to "try this one". "This one" turned out to be a $17 Margarita that I didn't find out til I got the bill! She also made my wife another drink without asking and smiled as she moved it slowly in front of her. She was obviously trying to get our money. Not cool... Our second time there we went for lunch with friends and our kids. The food was outstanding. The service was good and friendly. All in all, this was a much better experience. The front desk and door guy were equally friendly to us.

Desperate to get a quick meal before a concert at Longwood Gardens we stumbled upon Azteca. The staff was extremely polite. The place was spotless. The prices were very reasonable. The guac was outstanding - and a must when you eat here. We both had enchiladas. They were very good, but did not seem as freshly prepared as the salsa and guac. Service was very fast. We will be going back.

Went here after visiting Longwood. We did not want to drive around at 9 looking for a place...and we saw this and figured we would give it a shot. Good clean place, our waitress was prompt and efficient. I had the Enchiladas Supreme- Supreme combo of four enchiladas, one chicken, one beef, one cheese and one shredded beef, topped with sour cream, salad and pico de gallo....all were very good and came out hot. My girlfriend had one of the combo plates and she too said it was very good...neither one of us had any left on the plate. Perhaps because we were famished from all the walking at Longwood...but the food was above average Mexican. We also ordered dessert. It was a Mexican corn pudding flan kinda thing...I am not 100% sure of the name. I loved it...it came with a dark chocolate and honey sauce and it was not overly sweet. My girlfriend did not like it though....yea more for me. But hey that is why we try stuff...who knows what we will like. Over all...if you are in the area this is a good safe choice for Mexican food. The price was right as well as it cost us about $42 for the two of us and I had a Negra Modelo draft (22oz) and she had a frozen Margarita.

This was the second time we tried here because we weren't impressed the first time, but everyone deserves. Second chance. Unfortunately, it didn't pan out. The server was nice but not helpful. They don't have an accurate cocktail list (or they just don't feel like making them), the food is obviously not fresh. It all tasted processed/frozen like I could have bought it at a super market. I guess I shouldn't expect more from a chain (which I didn't know it was until after). Don't go here, much better, fresh, and authentic Mexican around Kennett Square. I won't be back.

Terrible ,at best! Bad service- still waiting for my water. Margarita was terrible too. Stay away. Food was dry. It's bad.

The best thing about this restaurant is the guacomole! The table side preparation is fun but the restaurant is so tight that there are several tables that can't accomodate table side. The food was average at best. The atmosphere is nice. Our waiter was very nice and apologized several times for making us wait which we expected on a Saturday night. As it is a recently opened, I'm sure there are kinks to work out. I'd probably give it one more try or just go back for the chips, salsa (very good) quacomole and a margarita, ( good). And I will agree that the booths are uncomfortable. They are too high so unless you are 6 feet tall, your feet dangle and in our case, the table was also way too far from the seat.

I have been there a few times and all times the food has failed to live up to the beauty of. the restaurant . they changed the menu and took out about the only meal i actually liked. my friend and i both ordered enchiladas san miguel and to us that we come from mexican descent the sauce was lacking taste .it tasted very weird that's is the best word i can come up with to describe it. it is clearly not real mexican sazon it should NOT be classified as mexican food. i then ordered the seafood chimichanga and it had about 3 pieces of shrimp.!!!! The service also needs to improve. overall my experiences at the restaurant have not been pleasant i don't umderstand why i keep going back!!!

  • Rob M.

When we walked in a asked for a booth he said no booths were open there was just 2 of us when I pointed he frowned and took us to it. This is the worst Mexican I have ever had. It is more cheap sloppy joe meat with spiced up ketchup. It is worse than the Mexican you had as a kid in the cafateria Plus the "organic" marg was terrible I don't think it had any tequila in it so I ordered a shot of patron rep and they brought me white rail tequila. This joints only purpose is to pass off bad mecican an rip off anyone going to Longwood gardens. Living in Avondale there are so many better alternatives. The only thing that was good was the table side guac but that is not worth a visit. Avoid at all cost !! I love Mexican and this place should call itself something other than an authentic Mexican restaurant

You have to be kidding me. $16.95 for a Margarita (unpriced on the menu), $6.95 for a small bowl of tortilla soup (good) $8.95 for ceviche (inedible). Fajitas and enchiladas on par with Chile's. In an area with some great Mexican (Tacqeria Morleone, El Ranchero) why anyone would eat at an overpirced chain baffles me. Prediction....gone in six months.....

We ate here twice now. Restaurant is very clean and fresh. The table side guacamole was awesome. Great service and food at reasonable prices. The booth seats are very high. I couldn't reach the floor and I thought that was very funny.

Waitress was little off-standish could be a language barrier? Maybe annoyed at our questions but we are the customers right? After receiving my chicken quesadilla which was NOT cut...bizarre. I had to cut myself and it had a smearing of refried bean inside which was not described on the menu. I don't mind a little so I ate it but they shouldn't sneak in foods - customer could have allergy and they could get lawsuit. That's prob why I didn't get any beans on my plate - when she came back I asked where the "extras" were...and she seemed confused by the question and said that is what you ordered. Oh my! Typically in other mexican restaurants, you get lettuce/tom, beans and/or rice...nope not here just a plain ol' uncut quesadilla on a plain white plate...very unappetizing and poor execution for 10.25! I've had better at Qdoba for half that price. My friend enjoyed her shrimp dish but I will hesitate going back again.

Went for an early dinner on a weekend. Booth seats were very uncomfortable. Felt like the table was in my lap and my feet dangled and I'm 5'6''. We had chips and salsa on the table before we could blink. Drink menu has no prices which would be nice since the margaritas come in small and large and some have Patron. Organic margarita was ok. Pretty light on the tequila and strangely fizzy. Guacamole (side dish, not tableside) was browning. I had the lobster enchilada which said it was tail meat but it was all rubbery claw meat. Barely any flavor in the entire dish. My date had a burrito combo and seemed to like it. Food came extremely fast. One issue is they have a very small entryway that the servers need to pass through with drinks. Between the kitchen doors which are up front and the drinks passing through I saw almost 15 customers with near misses. I think its good for a quick lunch or dinner but if you want authentic mexican I'd go elsewhere.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
